On October 31st, it was revealed that certain characters will be available through alternate costumes. The first of which to be revealed is the Male Wii Fit Trainer. This was further expanded when it was revealed that Olimar and Alph would be alternate costumes, and not different characters. Despite this, Alph gets his own shout from the announcer both by picking the character and winning the game. Another notable alternate costume case is Bowser Jr., who was revealed to have all seven of the Koopalings as his alternate costumes. Despite this, several characters like Dr. Mario and Dark Pit are still 'clone' characters that have their own character spot on the roster. |

A Super Smash Bros. Ultimate mod is being made to bring back some favorite Super Smash Bros. Melee movement mechanics -- drawing similarities to Project M
Are you loving Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but feel like there’s just something missing? Well if that something is reduced landing lag and quicker movement, you’re in luck! A member of the Smash community, NyxTheShield, is creating a mod to emulate Super Smash Bros. Melee movement.
In the spirit of Project M, the mod is being named Project NX. NyxTheShield has already teased some of the movement already on Twitter:
Palu Movement pic.twitter.com/kzNMRNnp9r
— KMV | NyxTheShield (@NyxTheShield) January 11, 2019
And now if you have played Palutena, you probably know very well she doesn’t move that fast. And of course, she certainly can’t wave dash. There is no word whether this mod will ever see the light of day outside of NyxTheShield’s streams. But if it follows Project M‘s path, there could be potential for some Smash tournaments to pick it up.
So if you’re a big fan of Melee though you prefer playing the variety of characters Super Smash Bros. Ultimate offers, stay glued to NyxTheShield’s Twitter for more tech videos and info.
Speaking of Melee and Ultimate, a YouTuber recreated Melee‘s opening utilizing the latest Smash entry. This fan-made opening is really well put together and does the original justice, so make sure to check it out if you need more Smash in your life today.

The time has finally come! Smash 4 has recently been modded a LOT, and these mods are very exciting! The Wii U mods aren't as accessible as 3DS mods so that is why we are beginning with the 3DS. This mod pack includes enhanced moves on almost ALL fighters! There are also some custom alt. costumes you can use. To use these mods you MUST first have Homebrew installed on your 2DS/3DS/New3DS. There is a tutorial here. This tutorial is very easy and works with the newest update :D Once you have homebrew set up, you should also have to get a file from your copy of Smash 3DS using this tutorial. Finally, once you have all of that setup, you can download the mod here with the tutorial included. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Happy Smashing! ;)
